Membership

Benefits of membership include:

  • Communications: Receive MASP email briefs, the only communication dedicated to school psychologists in Michigan. The email briefs cover issues relevant to the practice of school psychology, information regarding credentialing, events/conferences, legislative developments, and more.  They are sent to members after each board meeting.
  • Professional Development: Participate in valuable virtual and in-person professional development activities. As a member, you will enjoy reduced registration fees for all MASP professional development activities..
  • Advocacy: Help strengthen the influence of school psychology at the local and state level through your membership. MASP works closely with our MASP legislative agent and the legislature to improve the education of Michigan’s children while representing your personal and professional interests.
  • Governance: Play an active role in the association by electing officers and regional directors. If you choose to become active in MASP, you can serve on a wide range of committees and interest groups as well as participate as an officer or regional director.

Types of Membership:

  • Regular: for individuals currently functioning as school psychologists and who hold a school psychologist certificate.
  • Studentfor individuals currently enrolled for at least 6 credit hours in a school psychology graduate program leading to certification as a school psychologist and not fully employed as a school psychologist.
  • Retiredfor individuals holding a school psychologist certificate for a period of five consecutive years immediately prior to retirement from remunerative professional activity..
  • Trainerfor university staff who are primarily engaged in the training of school psychologists at a college or university..
  • Administrator:  for individuals who are in a supervisor/administrator position and are no longer a practicing school psychologist.
  • Early Careerfor individuals who have graduated from a school psychology graduate training program and who are in the first year of practice
  • Associate:  for individuals with an interest in the field of school psychology but who do not hold a school psychologist certificate or meet the criteria for any other membership category; Associate members may not vote or hold an office in the association.
